6th Annual Conference:
Autonomy

We held our 6th Annual Conference on 27th June 2025 at the Amora Hotel in Richmond.

The event opened with a keynote address from our Director, John Roberts, followed by a powerful Cultural Awareness Workshop led by Josie Prioletti from Catalyst Training. The day featured a range of engaging sessions, including updates on Cybersecurity and the NDIS, insightful talks on immigration trends, artificial intelligence, and co-design, as well as team-building fun like the Balloon Bonanza and Simply Origami.

This year’s theme, Autonomy, was at the heart of every workshop & activity—highlighting the importance of empowering individuals with the confidence & freedom to take control of their own journeys.

The day wrapped up with our Evening Gala at Red Spice Road in Melbourne’s CBD. The atmosphere was buzzing, the food was fantastic, and everyone left with full hearts (and stomachs!). It was the perfect close to a truly uplifting day.

Out and About with Spiros

Spiros is a 47-year-old man who loves to have fun and always brings a cheeky sense of humour wherever he goes. He has cerebral palsy and uses a wheelchair full-time, but that doesn’t stop him from enjoying life to the fullest.

Spiros
One of his favourite things to do is head into the city every Saturday night. He visits his favourite venue, has a couple of whiskeys, listens to music, and even has a little “dance” in his wheelchair. It’s something he looks forward to all week. He also loves going out for lunch. You’ll often find him at Queen Victoria Market or Max Restaurant, where he enjoys a good meal and people-watching. He gets support from workers when he’s out and about, but he always keeps his independence.

During the week, Spiros spends time with his support workers exploring Melbourne. Some of his favourite places to visit include Docklands Shopping Centre, St Kilda Beach, Port Melbourne, South Melbourne Market, Prahran, Southbank, and South Yarra. He enjoys shopping, going for walks, and trying new food.

Recently, Spiros started a GoFundMe with the hope of making his backyard safe and functional again. He dreams of having an outdoor space where he can relax and enjoy time outside. If you’d like to support this goal or simply read more about it, you can visit his GoFundMe page by clicking this link: Spiros GoFundMe. Any help, big or small, is truly appreciated, but there’s no pressure.

We are lucky to know Spiros and support him on his adventures around Melbourne.

We had a beautiful time taking our participants with their support workers to the historic Werribee Mansion and Gardens on the 1st of May.

Werribee Mansion and grounds

After exploring the mansion and enjoying peaceful strolls through the blooming gardens, we found the perfect spot for a picnic. We played some fun outdoor games and even brought along painting supplies to capture the beautiful scenery. It was a wonderful day for everyone, a great outing for our participants, filled with fresh air, warm sunshine, and lovely company.

Looking forward to our next adventure!

As we flew over Melbourne, we were treated to breathtaking views of the city skyline, getting up close to the towering buildings and iconic landmarks from above. The experience gave everyone a fresh perspective — and plenty of awe and wonder.

Star of the Month

Hi! My name is Marianne, but people like to call me April or Maan.

Working with the clients at CNHC has been truly meaningful and has helped me grow both professionally and personally. The connections I’ve built through this work continue to inspire me every day. Outside of work, I enjoy running and often take part in races. It’s a great way for me to stay active, challenge myself, and clear my mind.

A fun fact about me is that I can fall asleep almost instantly, no matter where I am. It’s a little skill that always surprises people.

The fulfilment I get from having a positive impact is unmatched. I’m also grateful to my coordinators, whose support in introducing me to different clients & providing various training opportunities has helped me develop a broad skill set, further boosting my confidence. I now feel more empowered than ever.

The Face of Bendigo Networking – Tianna

We are excited to highlight Tianna, who has been leading our networking and business development efforts in Bendigo.

“Our director gave me the opportunity to learn about networking for the company, and a chance to learn and grow in another department. I was given guidance and advice on how to pursue providers, build relationships, and talk about Complete Nursing and our mission for quality care, independence and importance of our clients choice. I’m so thankful for this opportunity, I have gained knowledge about how big the disability community is, and what services & programs are available for our participants.” – Tianna

Tianna’s professionalism and strong commitment to making a difference have helped us build meaningful connections and grow our presence in the local community, making her a truly valued member of our team.

Launching Health Trainers

On the 6th of May, we officially launched Health Trainers at our Werribee office, marking an exciting step in support worker education and training.

The event offered a hands-on look at how the Health Trainers platform works. We walked everyone through the 7 animated modules, which are designed to help support workers refresh and build on their knowledge in key areas of care. The platform is easy to use, engaging, and tailored to real-life scenarios, making it a valuable tool for both new and experienced workers.

Despite the quieter crowd, the feedback we received was very encouraging. Attendees appreciated the practical nature of the training & the potential it holds for improving everyday care.

We are excited to keep spreading the word about Health Trainers and help support workers access this valuable, forward-thinking training.
