Neurodiversity Celebration Week

What is Neurodiversity Celebration Week?

It is a worldwide initiative that challenges stereotypes and misconceptions about neurological differences. It aims to transform how neurodivergent individuals are perceived and supported by providing schools, universities, and organisations with the opportunity to recognise the many talents and advantages of being neurodivergent, while creating more inclusive and equitable cultures that celebrate differences and empower every individual.

Why was it founded?

Siena Castellon, Founder notes:

“I founded Neurodiversity Celebration Week in 2018 because I wanted to change the way learning differences are perceived. As a teenager who is autistic and has ADHD, dyslexia, and dyspraxia, my experience has been that people often focus on the challenges of neurological diversity. I wanted to change the narrative and create a balanced view which focuses equally on our talents and strengths.”

What is the purpose?

To help the world understand, value, and celebrate the talents of neurodiverse minds.

What does it mean for us?

We must recognise the many strengths and talents that come from thinking and perceiving the world differently. Let’s practice:

OPENNESS –   CONNECTION – UNDERSTANDING

Living and believing in our Company values is important.

RESPECT – INTEGRITY – QUALITY – COMMITMENT

What did CNHC do to celebrate this?

A coffee morning was held across all states on Friday, 25 March 2022 to help celebrate the strengths and talents across the Company.

Everyone joined in the coffee morning to answer the following questions and bought something along that represents their strength:

“What unique trait makes you strong? What diversity have you experienced on the path to owning it? What helped you succeed?”

It was an enjoyable and enlightened morning, where everyone celebrated each other’s strengths. Thank you to everyone for joining in and for sharing such amazing strengths.
